Well its a scorcher both literally and figuratively across almost all the U.S. Its during these times that when smoking certain cigars are ....well......just TOO much for this heat. So what do you pair with a mojito? an iced down rum punch? well let me give you some cigars that will take this down a notch with out firing up your pallet into an even greater inferno inferno.
When the humidity and soaring temps are both brutal I have found my normal full flavored full bodied profile needs to be dialed back a few notches so I can still enjoy a good smoke and not have it hit me in my stomach. The key is a balance of bodie and flavor that will satisfy AND leave me comfortable(if there is such a thing). Here are my "crazy from heat" choices. In no particular order of importance
1. Rocky Patel Connecticut; hard to beat the wheat baby! the all Connecticut puro offers a nice flavor of wheat grass and creamy butter while still packing a nice medium flavor from beginning to end. This cigar screams for a stella by the way..........
2. 5 Vegas; Along the same vein as the previous pick. This mild bodie, medium flavor cigar packs a nice woody flavor, while retaining notes of spice and a nice nutty flavor through out. Mojito worthy indeed......
3. The Cain Daytona; Having a milder habano wrapper this amped down Cain is a good choice for a fuller medium bodie cigar that packs some nice flavors of butter scotch with notes of pepper in a nice complex and citrus flavor that will satisfy your stronger flavor profile with out kicking into the red zone. Obvious choice is a........ Leinenkugel !!!
4. Perdomo 10th anv. champagne; This light and almost aromatic blend holds hints of pepper and creamy profile is spot on for a hot steamy day. Fat tire ale I think or a margartia......
5. 262 Ideology; Packed with ceder and a vegetable note this cigar billows plumes of sweet tobacco taste that is just the thing for a spot on smoke. A no nonsense smoke that lends itself well to Pyrat rum on the rocks!
Well those are just a few choices for what is turning out to be one B. A. hot summer. Those of you follow me on twitter know what the B. A. stands for! ;) ALL THE BEST-SMOKINJOE
